LatiNxt is a free festival featuring local, national and international artists who are exploring new ways of connecting traditional LatinE music with modern sounds.
As the population’s demographics evolve into a Latine majority in the United States, first and second generation Latine are establishing a new cultural identity informed by both their heritage and culture. This vibrant melting pot of ideas and innovation is shaping the global music community, however it continues to develop in the margins of the larger US music market.
In parallel form throughout Latin America, increased access to technology has facilitated global conversations, collaborations, and innovations in the arts. These modern advances, juxtaposed with a renewed exploration of tradition, have created a thriving creative environment that celebrates the roots of the past as well as the possibilities of the future.
Hector guerra at latinxt 2021
LatiNxt explores the music that emerges from and within these cultural dichotomies and through performance and exchange, strengthens connections, increases exposure and champions a more robust discourse between forward-thinking Latine artists across the Americas.
The festival is curated by Future Rootz, a collective of Latine music curators, artists, taste-makers, and socio-cultural instigators. Their work represents a border-less artistic intersection that draws from the past while reaching for the future.
